![]() ![]() Bloodlines is a lot less forgiving in those regards. You have way more control over your jump arc in this game than in any other Classicvania I can think of (bar ReBirth), and once you figure out the whip controls and learn how to use it defensively, you can pretty much go the entire game without being hit much at all. On top of that, I never feel much in danger when playing IV. That said, all three are top tier platformers. Outside of a few tracks, I think Super's OST is boring as fuck. Wish I could say the same for the OST, sadly. IV's art direction absolutely stomps the other two, though. That's not to say Bloodlines doesn't employ similar visual tricks, but it does so far less often than IV does. Super Castlevania IV is one of those games where the first playthrough is goddamned amazing but every subsequent playthrough feels more and more like a chore, as all of the neat technical tricks it does goes from being mindblowing to a cheap little novelty. I prefer Bloodlines' brisker, more arcade like pacing and design to IV's slower, more methodical feel. Morrigan's sprite doesn't have shit on that.īloodlines > IV has always been more of a personal (and controversial) opinion of mine. It has the most replay value of the three, an excellent OST, and visuals so good, Konami would reuse assets from them for the next 15 years.
